Quality branded recycled aggregates: remexit®

REMEX's success story began in the mid-1970s with innovative recycling solutions for road demolition waste and construction waste. With our processing technology, we continue to demonstrate specialist competence in the production of secondary aggregates – including the production of high-quality recycled aggregates under the remexit® brand for use in civil engineering and road construction.

Which materials form the basis of recycled aggregates?

  • In according regulations, the permissible input materials for the production of recycled aggregates and their subsequent reuse are defined in detail. In principle, the following materials, for example, can be processed into recycled aggregates:

    • Mineral construction and demolition waste (consisting e.g. of concrete, bricks, ceramics)
    • Road rubble
    • Mineral content of construction waste
    • Fractures or faulty batches resulting from the production of mineral construction materials
    • Excavated soil with a mineral content of more than 10 % by volume

    Materials containing asbestos, road rubble containing bitumen or tar, construction materials containing gypsum, and mineral insulation materials are explicitly excluded from the input materials for the production of recycled aggregates.

Production process, areas of application, quality assurance

  • The use of recycled aggregates is defined by structural and ecological specifications. The better the material qualities of the recycled aggregates, the greater their application possibilities.

    • Production

      Screening, crushing, classifying – these are the three basic steps in the production of recycled aggregates. But the process begins much earlier, with selective dismantling on site and separated storage of input materials in our recycling facilities.     • Main applications

      Recycled aggregates are mainly used as base course material for road construction or in substructures of large industrial buildings. A tabular summary of the application areas under consideration of environmental specifications and structural engineering can be found here.

    • Delivered grain sizes of recycled aggregates

      Recycled aggregates are supplied in the form of different grading curves according to the application requirements – from the fine sand fraction to oversize particles. In terms of the physical constructive properties, they are directly comparable to primary construction materials. Learn more about our aggregates.

    • Quality assurance

      The quality of recycled aggregates is primarily dependent on the input materials, i.e. the composition of the construction and demolition waste. Our quality management ensures constant material properties of our remexit® construction materials.

Material with many advantages

    • It is not uncommon for recycled aggregates to have advantages over natural aggregates in terms of physical constructive properties. Crushed concrete and mortar, for example, often lead to higher strength and stability in the overall mix, even in comparison with natural construction materials.

    For environmental reasons, the material cannot be used everywhere. However, in most cases, application is straigtforward because conditions of use are clearly defined. Economic efficiency is often the decisive argument for the use of recycled aggregates. To the calculation example
